It was almost three years since Finnish rock legends “Nightwish” had last played at Wembley Arena.  On that occasion, the entire show was filmed for the “Vehicle of Spirit” DVD.  We were there that night and again this time ‘we were here’.

The support act was another Finnish band – “Beast in Black”.  I hadn’t heard them before but quite enjoyed their set – they sounded a bit like Judas Priest in places.

After a 30 minute break, it was time for Nightwish.  Troy Donockley opened the show with an instrumental version of “Swanheart” before the full band took to the stage with “Dark Chest of Wonders” and “I Wish I Had An Angel”.

The tour was in support of “Decades” – a compilation album chronicling the band’s 20 year history, so the set included some songs from the early days that hadn’t been played for a long time, along with more recent material.
